Vrindavan 2016.06.28 (VT): Housing Development Board of Chatikara and Alhepur area will be developing a new township in Vrindavan in 260 acres (1,052,185 square meters). The new township will be developed in a span of ten years for which land procurement will start soon from the farmers. As already discussed with the farmers’ association, Rs. 1 crore per bigha (0.4 acres or 1620 square meters), which is four times than the current area rate.
The Board wanted to start the development in 2013 itself, but the plans were postponed because of the protest from farmers. Later on a new law was passed to procure land from farmers which further delayed the process. The Board then got active after the State Government suggested buying land with mutual consent of farmers.
On June 17, the plans were finalised after a meeting between city administration, housing board and farmer’s association. The meeting ended with consent of paying Rs. 1 crore per bigha to the farmers, which is four times the current rate land in the area. This amount will be distributed in July through cheques.
The Housing Development Board will also start the process of preparing the blue print for the township development. The registration for future homes will also start in August – September this year. A total of 260 acres of land will be procured for the township, which will be around the corner of Chatikara road and national highway. This township will be right opposite to Mata Vaishno Devi temple, and will be very near to Akshaypatra complex and Vrindavan Chandrodaya temple.
Assistant Engineer Manmohan Srivastava said that the township will have 10% development for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Lower Income Group (LIG). Apart from that, the Middle Income Group (MIG) and High Income Group (HIG) apartments and villas, commercial spaces, group housing spaces, community centre, green belt, park, power house for electricity, post office, police station etc.
